WHAT CAUSES PRURIGO NODULARIS?

Although the cause of PN is not fully understood, evolving research suggests PN is caused by an abnormal relationship between the skin, nervous system, and immune system, resulting in chronic itching and underlying inflammation. This inflammation may help further drive the chronic itch-scratch cycle, leading to the formation of PN bumps.

PN may be caused by an abnormal relationship between the immune system, nervous system, and skin leading to unwanted inflammation.

This inflammation results in the signs
and symptoms you see and feel, like
unrelenting itch.

This itchiness often leads to frequent
scratching and picking of the skin,
which contributes to further lesion
thickening and bump formation.
